The photodiode array detector, abbreviated as PDA (Photo Diode Array) detector or DAD (Diode Array Detector) detector, is a new type of ultraviolet detector developed in the 1980s. Its working principle is as follows: the light source enters the flow cell through a series of optical mirrors, and the light coming out of the flow cell is then directed onto a group of photodiodes through a spectroscopic system and a slit. The data collection system records the spectral absorption of the components in real time, obtaining a three-dimensional spectrogram. Using a set of photodiodes to simultaneously detect all wavelengths of ultraviolet light passing through the sample, rather than just one or a few wavelengths. Unlike ordinary UV visible spectrometers, the light entering the flow cell is no longer monochromatic. It has the following advantages: (1) It can obtain chromatograms of any wavelength, which is extremely convenient; (2) Can obtain spectra at any time, equivalent to being used in conjunction with ultraviolet radiation; (3) The functions of chromatographic peak purity identification, spectral image retrieval, etc. can provide qualitative information of components. It is composed of a vacuum box and a vacuum pump. After turning on the power switch of the vacuum degassing machine, the control circuit starts the vacuum pump, which runs to generate partial vacuum inside the vacuum box. The pressure is measured by a pressure sensor. According to the signal from the pressure sensor, the vacuum deaerator maintains partial vacuum by turning on or off the vacuum pump.
